Workplace safety is one of the most important factors defining employees‘ happiness and the overall public trust of businesses and institutions. We are delighted to announce that Teltonika Smart Autonomous Solutions (SAS) is partnering with SOSvolaris and contributing to ensuring the safety of workers in Europe.
Safety at the workplace comprises various aspects, however, a specific category of the workforce that needs particular attention is lone workers. Different types of lone workers face challenging work environment. For example, these working alone in the office (consulting rooms, reception desks or counters) are exposed to the risk of assault, violence or theft.
In the Netherlands alone, over 200,000 professionals have to deal with aggression in the workplace every year. Our partners SOSvolaris offered a cloud-based solution to the municipality of Apeldoorn in the central Netherlands, and it turned out to be an exemplary success story.
HOW DID IT WORK?
One of the means of establishing the protection of these workers is discreet and mobile solutions that can be achieved by the use of Teltonika‘s GPS trackers TMT250 and GH5200.
The solution works in two ways. Firstly, the employees in consultation rooms are distributed with TMT250 emergency buttons. Whenever an employee feels uncomfortable or unsafe, he can discreetly reach for the button, safely mounted under the desk or counter. After the button is pressed, the alarm notification with an employee‘s location is sent to the SOSvolaris platform.
Thanks to the different pre-defined scenarios when pressing the button, one can send SMS and voice messages, emails or push notifications to other devices. The security guard or a colleague, who receives these messages to his GH5200 device, would know directly where to assist.
The second part of the solution relates to mobile emergency buttons for reception staff. Whenever reception staff clicks the TMT250 emergency button, the alarm is sent to the GH5200 device, worn by a security guard. Two-way voice communication provides access for a security guard to listen to an ongoing situation and take the adequate decision.
According to Apeldoorn city municipality, the buttons are used about five to ten times a week. Jarno Heijting, the founder of SOSvolaris, elaborated on the advantages of the solution: „It enhances the feeling of safety in workplaces. The devices are cost-efficient and work great with the software, app, while the solution is easy to manage. The software gives the device more functionalities so it can be connected to other services and used in a wide variety of use cases. That gives users the possibility to create their solution”.
Together with the software, SOSvolaris provides extensive functionality that comprises the following features: management of settings from the cloud, tracking and tracing from the cloud, including geofencing, start scenarios and continuous monitoring.
This success case proves to be yet another confirmation of the reliability of Teltonika personal trackers. Both TMT250 and GH5200 devices can be applied in a number of use cases – from ensuring safe distancing at work to providing safety of lone workers in remote locations.
